Tiffany & Co

Packaging Design

Widely considered the most recognizable packaging in the world, the Tiffany Blue Box emanates sophistication, refinement, heritage and romance. Our most recent collaboration with this iconic brand involved updating the look and feel of the outer boxes and bags. We remained true to the look and feel of the packaging we’ve all come to know and respect, creating the “interlocking T” pattern that now adorns boxes, bags and fragrance bottles worldwide.

The relationship we’ve built stretches back decades, prior to the acquisition of the Tiffany brand by LVMH. In the early 2000s, we executed the redesign of the entire packaging system, upgrading the look, texture and finishing techniques for shopping bags, set-up boxes, suede jewelry cases, tissue, ribbon and corrugates.

To accomplish this initial redesign, we interviewed staff to reveal packaging issues, surveying every SKU in the Tiffany collection to be sure every product had a corresponding suitable box. By working closely with Tiffany vendors, our redesign focused on subtle adjustments to textures, materials and finishes, implemented across Tiffany’s entire packaging system. We also took the time to ensure the new design and material standards established were conforming across all international markets.

Ultimately we delivered a comprehensive suede jewelry case and outer box matrix that was consistently sized with the updated branding. We set the color standards on various substrates (corrugates and outer boxes) for Tiffany’s unique PMS color, No. 1837, in commemoration of the year in which Tiffany was founded. Our commitment to understanding the importance of brand heritage and customer loyalty is matched only by our vast experience in the mechanics of production. Such multi-faceted clarity allows us to innovate within the confines of existing limitations such as machinery and factory settings, in order to respect budgets and deliver excellence.

Under the bold creative direction of Reed Krakoff (and the agency Laird + Partners) new products are continuously launched. The iconic pattern that we created can be seen on the neck of the new Tiffany & Love Eau de Parfum bottles.
