Jamie Turner is a new collaboration between serial entrepreneur and avid gem collector Robert Turner and master jeweler Patrick Dobbs. Together they’ve created collections that integrate opposites: mathematical equations and cutting edge technology are the underpinnings of their work, designs that honor Nature’s magnificence.

We were the first hire invited on board to craft this new brand. Marketing, PR, Social media and paid media teams were formed around us. Visual brand-building required developing a comprehensive set of guidelines that included a logomark, typographical system and color palette, which helped rally the various teams and partners around the ethos and beauty of the brand.

Next, the packaging. We sourced and created luxuriously heavy lacquered wooden boxes, inlaid with brass logos and corner stays. The thick brass base and hardwood exterior contrast with the plush suede interiors. The bright shine of the jewelry flashes in silhouette against the dark cushioned backgrounds.

To create the heroic, tone-setting ad campaign and brand film, we shot video and stills for two days in Moab, Utah’s rugged, otherworldly landscapes. Formed over eons, the deep red rock outcroppings coupled with current runway fashion provided a dynamic backdrop for the jewelry.

Website

To create a contemporary and unique virtual home for the pieces, we paired the imagery with large serif headlines and bold calls to action. We chose a delicate sans serif typeface to provide detailed information in a softer tone of voice.

Typical ecommerce product photos on the shopping pages of websites show models in-studio against relatively plain backgrounds. Reimagining that paradigm, we shot the product images in the highlands of Bolinas Beach in California, with Mt. Tam State Park in the background.

For the product stills rather than taking pictures of every sku and overseeing painstaking retouching we relied on the latest technology and created digital renderings directly from the CAD files used to design the jewelry. In the end our computer generated images of the products have more detail and definition than photographs. Additional still life imagery was captured in NYC with Dylan Griffin; sets were built by Peter Tran.

To further enliven the shopping experience and highlight the wearability of the products we added a lifestyle photo to the bottom of each product feature page.

In a time when most manufacturing has left the US, this jewelry has a different origin story: handcrafted in Austin, Texas. Our product journey film follows the creation of a single pair of earrings from original drawing through to stone setting and final polish, with custom scored music by award-winning composer Gil Talmi of Konsonant Music.

It’s rare that we have an opportunity to design all aspects of a brand from beginning to end. This is a true expression of who we are.
